A little more room to think
Tessera tiles every Mac window the moment it opens, and closes the gap when one goes away. No dragging, no snapping, no config files.
Download for MacThis is Tessera’s real layout engine, running in your browser. Click a window to focus it.
Pick a layout once. Tessera keeps it true as you work.
A new window takes the next free tile. Windows already open shift to make room.
Past four windows, new ones stack on the tile you’re working in instead of shrinking everything.
Close a window and the rest grow back into the space.
Grid, Columns, Rows and Side. The main window takes a half, 60% or two-thirds.
Each screen keeps its own layout. Side holds five on an ultrawide and puts the main window on top of a vertical monitor.
Dialogs, sheets and panels are never tiled. Turn tiling off per app from the menu bar. Tessera steps aside while Stage Manager is on.
Everything works from the keyboard. Nothing to configure.
Grid, Columns, Rows, Side.
Focus: one window fills the screen. Press again to put it back.
Swap with the neighbouring window. Past the screen edge, move it to the next display.
Pause. Windows stay exactly where they are.
Drop a window onto another tile to swap the two.
About a minute, start to finish.
Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
This build is signed with a Developer ID; Apple’s notarization is on its way. Until then macOS asks you to approve Tessera once, and never again.
Window positions. Nothing inside them.
macOS requires this permission for any app that moves another app’s windows. Tessera reads each window’s position, size and owning app, and nothing else.
It never reads window contents or titles and never takes screenshots.
The app makes no network connections at all. No accounts, no tracking. This website counts anonymous page views, without cookies.
Make space for what matters.
